Common questions

A ride wasn't counted. Why?

Rides are counted towards the bike they were recorded on in Strava. If a ride had no bike set, or its bike in Strava isn't linked to one of your bikes in Pedal Chronicle, it can't be counted, and you'll get a "Rides not counted" email about it. Set the bike on the ride in Strava (or give Strava a default bike for future rides), link the bike from its page in Pedal Chronicle if needed, then press Sync Strava on the bike's page.

My rides aren't syncing at all. What should I check?

Go to Settings → Strava and check it says you're connected. If it doesn't, reconnect with the Connect with Strava button. New rides arrive about two minutes after you upload them. If it still isn't working, email us with your Strava name and we'll look into it.

How do I change or turn off alert emails?

Go to Settings → Alerts and switch off any alert type. To stop alerts for one part only, open the part and turn off Email alerts for this part. Every alert email also has links to turn off that type, or all alerts, in one click.

How is the weather worked out?

For each outdoor ride, Pedal Chronicle looks up the weather where you started and around the time you rode, using Visual Crossing. It uses that to decide whether the roads were wet, which wears chains and brake pads faster, and shows the weather, temperature and average wind on the Rides page. Indoor rides don't need a weather lookup.

How do I track parts I swap between bikes?

When a part like a wheelset comes off the bike, open it and press Pause tracking. Press Resume tracking when it goes back on. Its distance only adds up while it's being tracked.

How do I disconnect Strava?

Go to Settings → Strava and press Disconnect. Your bikes and parts stay as they are, but new rides stop syncing.

How do I reset my password?

On the sign-in page, press Forgot password? and enter your email address. We'll send you a code to set a new one. You can also change your password from Settings while signed in.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Delete account and confirm. This permanently deletes your account and all your bikes, parts, rides and service history. It can't be undone.

What data do you keep from Strava?

Only what's needed to track your parts: each ride's name, date, distance, sport type, elevation gain and bike. We use the start location to look up the weather, but don't keep it. We never store GPS routes, heart rate, power or other personal metrics. The full details are in our Privacy Policy.
